The road between Featherston and Upper Hutt is a lifeline and the only link between Wellington and the Wairarapa. Every day hundreds commute or use the road to transport goods. However the roads vulnerability to slips demands a solution and alternative route be created. It would only take one big slip and the road would be impassable. I call on the NZTA to look into creating a more reliable and stable route that would ensure the Wairarapa is accessible and road closures due to slips become a thing of the past.
