The Remutaka road is vital to access to the Wairarapa. The current slip near the bottom at the Featherston end is a good example of the impact of a landslip on the road with potential for long delays. It will not take much more to close the road for months. Now that NZTA has it in its mindset that the road can just be closed at night things will just get worse. The financial and emotional cost of deaths and serious injuries needs to taken into account
