That the NZ Police and Waka Kotahi have become so obsessed with reducing the number of speed related accidents on SHW2 between Featherston and Masterton spending millions of dollars installing barriers, "cheese cutters" and imposing huge costs on the transport industry by reducing the speed limit from 100 kph to 80kph, when the stats clearly show that in 22 years of gathering data whilst there have been 216 Million transits there has been only 1 death caused by speed is sad. Especially when the Remutaka Hill still continues to claim lives and cause injury and trauma to the traveling and commuting public every year. A modern highway connecting Wellington to the Wairarapa will not only transform travel making it quicker and safer.
