"I absolutely support an alternative Remutaka Road - we’ve lived here for nearly 20 years and I’ve been noticing so much more frequent rock fall and slips over the last few years. I’ve been saying to my whānau that there’ll be a catastrophic slip up before long. and in the event this does happen, we would be completely cut off from Wellington for many months. It’s also just an incredibly dangerous road, and the amount of traffic going over is only getting heavier - we need a viable (safer, quicker, easier on vehicles) alternative route. I absolutely support Alt routes ONE or TWO, as these have the same start/end point as the current road. I’d love to see a tunnel, but do understand the cons that come with this."
